VVR Fundraiser Please help the Volcanic Vixen Ryders MSC sponsor the Maryland Jayhawks basketball team in the 2010 World School Games to be held in Cleveland, OH. This team is comprised of young men from the DC Metropolitian area whose ages range from 15-18 yrs old coming from predominatly low socio-economic backgrounds. The Maryland Jayhawks program teaches: Ø teamwork, Ø dedication, Ø sportsmanship, Ø pride, Ø and life skills. Our GOAL is assist with the funding for the 12 participating young men which is approximately $12,000. Donations received will be used toward registration fees, transportation, meals and other incidental expenses (the weeks lodging will be provided by event sponsor). Your donation no matter how big or small will play a major part in creating a lifelong memorable experience for these young men to compete and socialize with likeminded teens from all over the world, young men-who may otherwise not have the opportunity to ever do so. To date, some of the participating countries registered to compete are India, Pakistan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Uganda, Kenya, Brazil, and Ghana.
In an effort to make this happen, we will need to receive all donations no later than January 29, 2010. We are sure our investment in our youth today will yield positive returns in the future, remember they are our future!!
